Greetings admins, members, partners and friends of CEN.

This is the third edition of the monthly admins newsletter for the Community Exchange family worldwide. Getting to you slightly later than we had hoped. Being December, this is to be our last newsletter broadcast of this year of 2025.

And what a year it has been!! Is it just us, or are you also noticing the vulnerability of all systems where you are? Whether it be at the global, regional, national, local or individual scale, there seem to be looming “best before dates” on all structures of our world. Environmental changes, fragile global supply chains, political polarisation, rising mental health anomalies and an economic “Emperor” so starkly wearing nothing at all . . .

All that might be true on the macro-cosmic scale, but might there be a single more significant structural phenomenon unravelling even closer to home? Could it be that the experiment of the human as somehow separate from Nature is coming to its natural conclusion? Could it be that the internal structures that have upheld the separate ego myth through which we have sense-made our reality simply be collapsing within each one of us?

Are we approaching the end of an old cycle and the dawn of a new one, long-heralded by sages, both ancient and living? Could we be experiencing the birth pains of a lived experience and living structures made of true connection? What might remain if greed, hatred and delusion were not intermediating our community connections?

What will 2026 have in store? The truth is, none of us can know for sure of course! But one has to wonder whether something might know . . . or at least that there might be a Knowing out there somewhere.

When I leave our regular Tuesday governance meeting I feel uplifted. My sense is that our team  and the project is supported by a benevolent force that speaks through goodwill, care and synchronicity. We hope you will tell us, but our hope is that this newsletter might offer you a taster of that uplift ahead of whatever awaits us all next year.

As always, this newsletter leaves the editorial team in both English and imperfectly translated Spanish courtesy of AI (we intend to remedy this as soon as we find a Spanish-speaking editor to join the team ... might that be you?).

Our Team Continues to Grow

We are delighted to have invited three new team members into our team during the month of November. 

- Ievgenii Lykhovi, a Ukrainian national recently relocated to Geneva, is a multi-skilled project manager and tech all-rounder. He has come aboard to focus on his greatest interest: improving the user experience and the design system.

- Andrew McGill, a writer and journalist based in Northern Ireland, joins us to audit, generate and edit our written communications. Some of you may have seen his wonderful interview of Tim available on YouTube available here https://youtu.be/_hm6L4XWt3A?feature=shared

- Thomas Greco, the Arizona-based community and monetary economist, writer, educator, networker and consultant. Tom is likely to be known by many reading these words. His many books, including The End of Money and the Future of Civilization, may have been the inspiration on your money detox journeys. Tom’s specific role within the team has yet to be bolted down, but his eldership is likely to prove invaluable. His closing words to us last week were something like, “I’m available, and you are welcome to use me how you wish.”

Organizational transformation into Circles

From An Island of Sanity …

Hi all, the months with “m” - September, Octo(m)ber and November - are the months of Harvest for us here in Crete. We no longer expect money producers to make products available either in our local currency or exchange. We are starting producing our own products like wine, raki, and olive oil so we can make them available in local currency and or exchange them with other exchange networks world wide. It can be quite easy using the knowledge of an old farmer his pick-up truck and one or two people to step on the grapes. We used our own community distiller for the raki. For oil we exchange the oil with cleaning the olive groves pruning the trees and finally collecting our own bio oil. We would love to send you some let us know! 

Looking Ahead

The roadmap has been refined: rather than migrating existing users immediately, we're building a CES-branded version of our app first. This allows pilot groups across multiple regions to begin testing in early 2026, providing valuable feedback before broader deployment.

Our Tuesday governance meetings and Thursday technical sessions continue to drive progress, with expanded participation bringing fresh energy and perspectives to both strategic planning and practical implementation.

The journey from Tim's original vision to CES2 represents not just a technological evolution, but our ongoing commitment to the principle that economic power should belong to the people who create value in their communities.

How You Can Continue to Support

The work of the Core Team remains rooted in the ethical principles underpinning the CES, most notably that of "community building outside the money system". All "work" is therefore "gifted" to the global CES community. Some of our team choose to "invoice" our generously supported project account that can "pay" in hours that are convertible into their local exchange "currency".

We are still open to others joining the team. Some of the skills we know we would like to add are listed below. You may have skills that we don't even know we need, so do get in touch if you feel called to join us in this wonderful project

¿Nos acercamos al final de un viejo ciclo y al amanecer de uno nuevo, anunciado desde hace mucho por sabios, tanto antiguos como vivos? ¿Podríamos estar experimentando los dolores de parto de una experiencia vivida y estructuras vivas hechas de verdadera conexión? ¿Qué podría quedar si la codicia, el odio y la ilusión no estuvieran intermediando nuestras conexiones comunitarias?

¿Qué nos deparará 2026? ¡La verdad es que ninguno de nosotros puede saberlo con certeza, por supuesto! Pero uno tiene que preguntarse si algo podría saberlo... o al menos que podría haber un Saber en algún lugar.

Cuando salgo de nuestra reunión regular de gobierno de los martes me siento animado. Mi sensación es que nuestro equipo y el proyecto están respaldados por una fuerza benévola que habla a través de la buena voluntad, el cuidado y la sincronicidad. Esperamos que nos lo digan, pero nuestra esperanza es que este boletín pueda ofrecerles una muestra de ese ánimo antes de lo que nos espere a todos el próximo año.

Como siempre, este boletín sale del equipo editorial tanto en inglés como en español imperfectamente traducido cortesía de IA (tenemos la intención de remediar esto tan pronto como encontremos un editor de habla hispana que se una al equipo... ¿podrías ser tú?).

Mejoras de CES1

Mientras nuestra atención está enfocada en desarrollar el nuevo software CES2, continuamos haciendo pequeños cambios al antiguo software CES1 en respuesta a solicitudes de administradores. Los siguientes son dos cambios significativos realizados tanto en el backend de escritorio como en la función de Administrador en el sitio móvil.

Originalmente, los administradores podían enviar por correo electrónico listas separadas para Ofertas, Necesidades y Anuncios, y enviar Avisos/Actualizaciones y un Boletín. Después de pasar a nuestro nuevo sistema de correo electrónico, estas funciones separadas dejaron de funcionar, por lo que la función de Boletín se mejoró y combinó todas las funciones en una. Esto limitó las opciones de los Administradores, por lo que ahora hemos restablecido las funciones separadas: Eventos, Noticias, Ofertas, Necesidades, Aviso/Actualización y Boletín. Las encontrarás en la página de Índice de Publicaciones y en los menús desplegables.

En la página de Administración del sitio móvil, los administradores ahora pueden ingresar transacciones para miembros de sus intercambios. Directamente debajo de esta opción hay una opción de 'Informe de transacciones', que muestra las transacciones ingresadas.

Desde una Isla de Cordura...

Hola a todos, los meses con "m" - Septiembre, Octo(m)bre y Noviembre - son los meses de Cosecha para nosotros aquí en Creta. Ya no esperamos que los productores de dinero hagan productos disponibles en nuestra moneda local o intercambio. Estamos comenzando a producir nuestros propios productos como vino, raki y aceite de oliva para poder hacerlos disponibles en moneda local y/o intercambiarlos con otras redes de intercambio en todo el mundo. Puede ser bastante fácil usando el conocimiento de un viejo agricultor, su camioneta y una o dos personas para pisar las uvas. Usamos nuestro destilador comunitario propio para el raki. Para el aceite intercambiamos el aceite con limpieza de los olivares, poda de los árboles y finalmente recogiendo nuestro propio aceite orgánico. ¡Nos encantaría enviarles un poco, hágannoslo saber!

Mirando Hacia Adelante

La hoja de ruta se ha refinado: en lugar de migrar usuarios existentes inmediatamente, estamos construyendo primero una versión de nuestra aplicación con la marca CES. Esto permite que grupos piloto en múltiples regiones comiencen a probar a principios de 2026, proporcionando valiosos comentarios antes de una implementación más amplia.
